Google 2-day ride

 

In addition to the 1-day ride, we are also offering a 2-day ride for the more serious cyclists among you.  This year, we are heading to the beautiful rolling hills of the Chilterns and Cotswolds.  Please ensure you reserve your place on the form below.  (If you would prefer to come on the 1-day ride, please click here.)

Itinerary

Where and when is it?

Thursday 23rd May – Friday 24th May 2019.  We will be departing from The Oxfordshire in Thame, near Oxford on Thursday 23rd May 2019 and will return to The Oxfordshire at approx 1-2pm on Friday 24th May 2019.

A note about pre-tour accommodation

Pre-tour accommodation the night before the ride (on Wednesday 22nd May 2019) is not included, however, some of the team will be staying there before the ride and if you wish to do so, you can book directly with The Oxfordshire at your own cost. We have some rooms on hold – please mention Ride25.

Day 1  Thursday 23rd May 2019 – approx 70 miles:

9 am – Registration and bag drop at the The Oxfordshire, Thame, nr Oxford.

Please arrive for registration at the The Oxfordshire.   Here, there will be coffee and morning rolls and you will be greeted by the Ride25 support crew who will give you your personalised cycling shirts for use on the trip.  Please bring your own black cycling shorts for use on one of the day’s rides (we are hoping for a great group shot with all of us wearing similar clothing!)  The crew will also take your overnight bags.  For those driving, there is parking at the hotel.  For those arriving by train, the nearest train station is at Haddenham and Thame Parkway (on the Marylebone to Birmingham route), approximately 5 miles from The Oxfordshire.

10am – Grand Depart from Thame:

After a safety briefing from the Ride25 support team, our peloton will set off from Thame and head off into the rolling countryside of the Chilterns.

11.30am (approx) – Coffee stop:  

We will have a quick pit-stop for coffee and cake in a traditional country pub the picturesque village of Great Haseley.

1pm (approx) – Lunch stop:

Google Ride25 July 2015 081We will will meet up with the other riders on the 1-day ride and enjoy a fabulous lunch in Woodstock, which hosts the amazing country house Blenheim Palace

5pm (approx) – Celebratory drinks:

Day 1 celebratory drinks at the Cotswold Hotel & Spa after which we we will freshen up for the evening.

7pm –  Evening meal:

We will enjoy a delicious meal at the Cotswold Hotel & Spa where we’ll be joined by some special guest speakers.  As part of the evening’s entertainment, we will also be having a charity fundraising element to support our charity of the year, George & the Giant Pledge, and help to push them over their £1million target – so please pack your wallets!!

Day 2 Friday 24th May 2019 – approx 50 miles:

Day 2 will involve a leisurely 50 miles flat(ish) to roll back into Thame.

9am – Depart: 

After breakfast we will depart from the Cotswold Hotel & Spa at 10am.  The Ride25 crew will pack your overnight bags in the support vans to be taken to the finish.

10.30am – Coffee stop:

Coffee will be at lovely country pub, The Pheasant in Brill

1pm (approx)  – Finish back in Thame for lunch:

We will finish back at The Oxfordshire where you will have a chance to shower and freshen up before lunch.  Everyone will then make their own way home via train or car.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED?

  • A bike  (We recommend a road bike, however, riders have used hybrids and Bromptons in the past)
  • Personal insurance – including cycling cover for you and your bike
  • Travel to and from the event – please organise your own.
